CurseForge Account Transfer Process

As part of the transition of CurseForge from Twitch to Overwolf, we’re putting together an account transfer process to provide our users with clear choices about what happens to their CurseForge accounts.

As part of this process, you will have the following options:

  • Do nothing - if you do not opt out of the account transfer process, your CurseForge account will be transferred to Overwolf. This means your account will continue working as-is after the transition.
  • Opt out of the account transfer process - your account data will not be shared with Overwolf if you opt out, which means that you won’t be able to access your account on the CurseForge website and app after the transition. If you opt out, a secure copy of your data stays with Twitch for a period of time, then will be deleted.
  • You can, of course, simply open a new account with Overwolf after the transition, though this new account will not have any of your previous CurseForge activity linked to it.

Below you’ll find a more detailed explanation of your account transfer options. Please feel free to reach out over Discord for any additional questions. If you’re interested in learning more about Overwolf’s policies in keeping your data safe, you’re welcome to read more here.

How will this impact me?

We are working hard to minimize any impact to our users. Your accounts on the CurseForge sites/services will persist, and it’s our goal to ensure that there will be no interruption to your access to the CurseForge services and sites.

What options do I have?

If you are not comfortable with your CurseForge account information being transferred at the time of the transition, you may “opt out” of having your account information transferred before the transition date. You may opt out in the CurseForge website. If you do opt out in advance of the transition date, Overwolf will not receive your account information.

If you opt out, then for a limited period of time after the transfer of the CurseForge sites/services to Overwolf, you will be able to change your mind and provide consent for Twitch to send your personal data to Overwolf, which (when complete) should restore your account in its entirety. We will provide more details about this process as it is finalized.

If you opt out, all attribution on your projects and public posts will be removed and replaced with “Forge_User_[RandomNumber]”. If you choose to restore your account by opting-in again within the limited period discussed above, it is our goal that that attribution will be re-appended and you will have your collection of posts and site contributions just as it existed prior to the transfer. If you would like a particular project or post removed, please delete them before the transfer date.

As part of our commitment to data privacy, Overwolf will treat any of your data that is transferred over (for example, your account information) in accordance with their privacy policy. Overwolf’s Privacy Policy is located here: overwolf.com/legal/privacy
